I entered a pick up on line of the Columbia Airport but when I went to pick up car found out it was a suburban location about 10 miles away was told the airport location had no cars to change reservation. This was my mistake so I totally understood what I did not understand when J went to location to get my car was told they had no cars and there was nothing they could do to honor my reservation. I called the 800 number and was told only location w cars was the airport. I explained I was at the airport and they said they had no cars they were able to confirm a car back at the airport but at a much higher rate than my original reservation. I don’t understand how a location can say they have no cars but call center can book one for someone or how you can have a confirmed reservation at a location but they don’t have a car for you. Then to be charged about $ 200 more after all the inconvenience. There was nothing I could do about it as I needed a vehicle but will think twice when renting again through this site and enterprise
Avoid this Hertz. Countless reviews of poor service, vehicles unavailable, and I experienced it for myself. I booked a 7 passenger vehicle for 24 hours through your website in the morning around 8 am for a noon pickup. When I arrived, the attendant said there were no such vehicles available. That's fine, I understand if you don't have one. HOWEVER, why not call me once you saw the reservation come in and let me know you would not be able to supply a vehicle to meet my request??? It would have saved everyone so much time. On top of that, the attendant said they did have a 7 passenger SUV available but it was luxury class so it would cost an additional $150. If it were my business, I would have comped the "additional charge" and let the customer take the "luxury" SUV but that just makes too much sense. Poor experience all around, I will not use Kayak for renting cars like this in the future.

I was stranded in Columbia, SC after my flight was unexpectedly diverted from Atlanta. The only option for a one way rental was Hertz at the airport. The economy car they gave me so I could drive back home to FL cost me nearly $500 for one day! Worst of all, the AC didn’t work properly. I was forced to drive 9 hours with the AC not working properly in near record heat!

This office was less then professional...I had a reservation and confirmation number and was told I didn't have a car when I got there then I was asked if I wanted a smaller car to be accommodated with....

I secured a rental and on my way, in an uber, to pick it up they canceled on me saying there were no cars available. Told me to go to my hotel, i had synergy else to be. Asked if they were going to drop off the car once they got one, they said no. So basically I was supposed to uber several times just to get a rental. No thank you. Awful, just awful.
