Room - good heating, water pressure; mattress softer than used to but still good. Breakfast - adequate Common areas - enjoyable, very nice Location - excellent Luggage storage - very nice service
Room - one of the windows lacking lock kept opening up, kept down with heavy book, needs repair; there are 2 heating controls and took a minute to figure out
Quiet inside. Historical and interesting.
A little dusty and the couch pullout bed did not have enough blankets.
Very cute and charming, the afternoon cookies and sherry in the lobby were lovely. Friendly staff. Clean. Location was really easy to connect to transit and get around. Also very close to the center of Japantown, which was great!
Beds were not very comfortable, building is old and you can hear folks coming and going, although this was far more for a room next to the elevator. We could hear everyone going in and out of the elevator at all hours. Not great if you like to sleep in a little bit. Also, no refrigerators, so nowhere to get leftovers after going out.
It’s amazing! The hotel has so much character, the rooms are extremely comfortable, and the staff are so friendly. I HIGHLY recommend and plan to return.

Great little find. The property is over 135 years old! If you want to go back in time, this is a great hotel. Things aren’t the most modern or up to date, but this just adds to the charm. Plenty of restaurant options within easy walking distance. Quiet neighborhood.
Beds were a little lumpy, and pillows were hard. This wouldn’t keep us from staying here again.
Very friendly, beautiful furnishings.
Breakfast needs an omelet station.
The customer service was excellent and great breakfast.
We expected a shuttle service as advertised on Booking.Com
We were there right at the end of the Christmas season and the whole place was done up. My daughter loved the decorations, the colors and lights, and the big model village right at the entrance. It just has such a comfortable vibe and it’s rich with history. Such a cool place! The staff were also amazing- friendly, helpful, professional, efficient- can’t say enough good things about them.
Charming hotel with beautiful victorian decor. We were there during Christmas season and the Christmas decorations were amazing and elaborate. Location was spectacular, just two min from japantown. Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf, and Ghirardelli Square are all within 15min from Hotel. Amazing location. Hotel parking is also conveniently located in next door open lot.
Hotel building is an older building so it comes with some whimsical mannerisms of older buildings.
