Leaving from Gare de Nice-Ville (Nice-Ville Station), you’ll first have a brief tour of the Cote d’Azur, stopping at Antibes, with its 16th-century ramparts. Then it’s on to Cannes, site of the iconic film festival and wonderful Mediterranean views you can see from the train. After this, you’ll travel through St. Raphael Valescure, headed to Toulon, an important naval base. Your last stop before swinging northwards will be Marseille, where you’ll catch sight of its Byzantine-era Basilique Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde. From there, it’s non-stop to Paris, passing through the Valence region, with views of the Rhone Valley on all sides. You’ll then enter the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region, where the vistas are more dramatic, taking you past Lyon, with its Medieval and Renaissance architecture. You’ll now be about halfway, as you go through Morvan Regional Natural Park, with its lakes and mist-shrouded hills and farmlands. Nearing Paris, you’ll skirt Gatinais Francais Natural Regional Park, passing through Montereau, before arriving in the City of Lights, at Paris Gare de Lyon.
