American Airlines flights has a slightly different luggage policy to other airlines and offers a tiered-approach, depending on where your destination is. Flights to other cities in the States, or Transatlantic and Transpacific flights can take up to 10 bags per passenger. Passengers flying to Mexico, The Caribbean, Central America, South America or Brazil may only check in five bags. Your weight will be limited to 23kg unless you are flying Business or First Class, in which case your weight restrictions are 32kg. If you would like to take additional luggage you will need to pay a fee and this can be arranged with the airline either beforehand or at luggage check-in. Strollers, medical accessories and animals have their own policy which is worth checking out too.

Flights on American Airlines will allow small animals such as dogs and cats to travel on board with the passengers if they fit within a small cage as carry-on luggage. There is a fee attached to taking your pet on board and they will need to remain at your feet in their waterproof kennel at all times. If your dog is a service or military animal they can also fly on board with the appropriate documentation of service and inoculations. Any other larger animals will have to be checked in as cargo.
